If this is the only tree that you
plan to cut down, I would forget it.
If you plan on cutting or getting cords
of future firewood, I would look into
putting in a wood burning stove.
It will keep a few rooms in the house
very comfortable without using much
gas.
You can install it yourself, However you
have to follow all codes as you may have
a problem with the town when you should sell.

Depending on the shape of the walnut tree
you may find a buyer for it for making
hardwood planks (a lot of money).
Maybe help pay for your gas bill.
