: We have a ~35 yr old American Standard boilder that we are replacing. We had 3 contractors come in to look. We are waiting for the 3rd quote now - but the other 2 contractors both quoted exactly the same 2 mfgrs/models/options:
: Weil McLain CGi GOLD(Series 2)
: Buderus GA124xII/32 with Logimatic Control
: ~ 100K BTU (maybe 97K or somewhere in that range)
: The Weil McLain option is basically replacing our existing boiler with a similar conventional boiler, (increased efficiency and all that stuff) while the Buderus is being advertised as the best option by both contractors.
: The Buderus quotes are ~20% more than the Weil McLain model. Both contractors are saying that the house will be much more comfortable while saving a lot on our gas bill each year.
: Is this true? Should we really consider spending the extra $$ for the Buderus?
: If I understand it correctly, the Buderus will circulate continuously and the savings will come in because of the Logimatic control that adjusts boiler temp based on outside temps. Does this really work? Or will we be paying extra $$ for a gadget that is marginally effective?
Actually the Buderus model they are suggesting is the G124Xii/32 not GA...
