Spirovent air eliminator

Being new to radiant heat, I tried to bleed air from the water inlet by using a wrench on the Spirovent. Result, I'm replacing the Spirotop part.

The info from the company says that I can use strap wrenches to take off the top and put the new Spirotop on. I have used strap wrenches and, then, pipe wrenches but the top will not come loose.

Is it really made so that the top can be replaced?

Also, I was thinking of heating it up with a torch to loosen it, but didn't know if this would hurt anything inside. It is supposed to have an "O" ring in it.

Any suggestions?

Thanx
