For the reasons I gave on the flow charts 1-inch was sufficient. Some oldy plumbers are 'welded' to some magical 'rabbits-foot' sizes. The larger size costs more and he might have a full supply in the garage. It won't hurt to use 1-1/4 and it won't draw more water - the 007 can only handle as much as its curve allows and there is really no 'draw-off' as all the water stays in the sealed system. the larger size just lets the water run around a little more; but not as fast, signifying nothing important. Use the manufacturer's recommended 1-inch pipe sizes for the boiler loop.
