The pilot doesn't have a regulator, so it gets gas directly from the source. The pilot going out more often means that the clog in the line came back or the valve outside isn't all the way open. When there is a restriction in the line, the pressure drops to the pilot when the main gas uses more gas up than the line can deliver, so the pilot goes out.
