: : We are taking old radiatiors (water system) out of a c1910 home. Are you looking to buy radiators?

: : : I am restoring a 1903 home and want to install vintage cast iron radiators (ornate). My question is if I can use them with a water system instead of steam. I do not have any existing heat, so I would be starting from scratch.

: : : Thanks for any input or ideas, tina

Dear Tina:

I have two 1860-1890 vintage steam radiators. The manufacturer is "Reliable" steam radiators, Model 506. They have a "steam latch bleader at the bottom covered by a copper plate of a woman. Each of the radiator fins has a large custom rhinestone, and the petcock is extremely "vitorian" style. I believe they are a water based system that, once hot, turns into steam. Look forward to hearing from you
