Hi:
I bought this 1916 prairie style colonial two years ago.It has what looks like a converted coal to gas boiler. The cast radiators in this house are huge. It seems the burner stays on for quite awhile when it is on and I was told by an agway serviceman that converting the 4 and 5" pipe to copper would make it heat up much faster. I was also thinking of switching to baseboard heat.
I live in east rochester ny.we are currently in a cold spell and this is a big house.
15 radiators in all. Some are over 6' long with 32 sections.everything is in excellent shape and working great but sometimes goes through 100 gallons of oil a week, depending on the temp and the thermostat setting which is hardly ever above 68.
thanks
David F
