Being eastern long island, there 'has' to be AC. I wouldn't go near a job that intensive, unless there was an extremely simplistic back up for heat. As in non-electric. A 'computerized alarm' via modem means that the respondent has to get to every job in the ice storm before damage. A freeze-thaw cycle repeated a few times can mean three feet of ice on the floors of a building that is left alone. Leaving it alone on a regular basis is raising the odds significantly. A non-electric LP space heater or fireplace is a given. Given the value of fireplaces, it would be a very good non-electric backup. And supposedly, fireplaces have the best return on investment. Actually, I would need to carefully hear what the needs and wants are before doing anymore typing.
