Installing a self-feeder can depend on the position of the boiler and the access doors available. If the boiler is a wet-base and there is no place for another feed to the grate, then a stoker would interfere with cleanout.

Any boiler is now over 84% AFUE efficiency and there really aren't 'junk' boilers made, so the plan is to get a good installer that can make the installation as best as possible.

You might consider it time to get a stoker boiler.
