I have steam heat (not water). The area served by the leaking pipe is minimal, as the living room has never gotten heat since I bought the house (something there is blocked up). Worse comes to worse, can one just cut out the section that's in the crawl space, and reattach the sections, so that instead of two independent loops (one for steam, the other for the return), you'd have a steam pipe that feeds into the return pipe on both sides of the boiler?
