By "flush" I hope you mean just cracking the spigot on the boiler to lose the sludge, and not draing and refilling it.
The old lady who had the house before I did had the boiler treated every year with SOS Boiler Colloid. I don't think she ever flushed it (the HVAC co obviously did once a year), and there is a tag saying "DON'T FLUSH TREATED WITH SOS BOILER COLLOID". That may be worth looking into. I know nothing about the stuff.
: I recently converted one of my properties from oil to gas and installed a 175,000 BTU Burnham steam boiler with an automatic water feeder. I can't seem to get a straight answer on how often I need to flush the boiler during the winter heating season. Some say once a week, others say once a month is sufficient. Once a week would be very difficult due to the fact that this is a rental property and i usually visit there every few weeks but i do not want to shorten the life of the boiler by neglecting it.
