In the last year and a half I've installed six of these. As the others have already answered, they can save, but it depends on the system. With a -60°F design temperature in my area, boilers are way oversized for most of the heating season, and the Heat Manager will definitely cut back on short cycling, and increase efficiency. But if you live in a mild climate, they might not be worth the price. With a modulating, gas-fired, boiler, it probably wouldn't help at all. And it's not a Tekmar with outdoor reset. But it is a relatively simple electronic device that works pretty well within its design capabilities.
