As the Takagi TKD20 you are talking about is a gas heater, I don't know what being an oil burner mechanic has to do with the subject. The heater is a copper-tube small water volume hater that has problems if the water flow is not careful. As sizing water flow is a mystery to most installers, there can be problems. I prefer to install such a heater to a 60 gallon or so tank so the heater heats the large volume of water and the heating zones are pumped off of the tank. That way there is assured water flow through the Takagi. Otherwise, whether the unit runs the gas fire for 2 hours a day or 24 wouldn't matter.
