Should I do it myself? Should I replace a 20-years old boiler?

More concern: My other house has a very old looking boiler (guess about 20 years old) In the last 3 years my repairman changed few things on it, total about $1,000. Now if I am changing my rental house bolier (40 years old), should I change this too, I can $600 knock off the total by doing it now together.

Another thing is I am really tempting to do it myself. I have done all kinds of plumbing and electric jobs before, very confident but never work on boiler. With a good installation guide book, should I do it myself. Together there is $3,500 saving.

Please advise!
Thanks!
