I don't think you'll notice a difference in resistance, so the 0010 should be OK and the better for it. The Lochinvar inputs 300,000 but only puts out 240,000, so needs 24 gpm and can get away with 16 gpm making a 15 degree rise, so it should be fine.

However, I prefer the Lochinvar tank just for the quality of it and longer life. As you were ready for a $10,000 boiler replacement, the $1100 is not that important. As the buffer tank includes an air eliminator, there is some added benefit, aside from having a matched set and warrantees for boiler use. (Not like Lochinvar was unaware this problem could occur as the literature tells the installer that the system runs better with 6 cycles per hour with a 120 gallon tank.)
