I have a Weil-Mclean 181,000 btu oil fired boiler about 12 years old. Upon start-up this year, the burner seems to run fine for about 10-30 minutes and then when I notice the house stops increasing in temperature, I go down and find that the red reset button has popped up. After pushing it, the burner starts without hesitation and runs normal until the next failure. Sometimes it stays ok for a day before the reset. Also, one time I found both reset buttons popped, (the one on the 50 gallon hot-water heater)but that was only once. What are the likely causes?
