The wind usually comes from the Northwest, so off the corner where the wind blows away from the house, but not in the lee of the house so smoke recirculates, would be good.

Has anyone had problems with smoke invading the house? Sure, especially when they put it close to the house in the lee, and especially if the chimney is not at least 15 feet away from and 2 feet horizontally higher than the nearest part of the house.
