Installing an Old Coal Boiler in a home

Dear Friends,

Please offer your thoughts. I live in a 1920's home, boiler heated. A similar house down the street still has the original coal boiler; it has been converted to natural gas, however, and they are getting a new boiler. I would enjoy heating my home with coal as I have a good source and have young boys who could tend to it. I even think this old boiler is nearly the same that was in my house originally. It appears to be in very good condition. Is there any reason why I couldn't disconnect my modern gas boiler and install this old coal one? I realize its efficiency as a gas fired boiler is probably very poor, but perhaps as a coal boiler it would be fine. Other than stripping the natural gas fixtures from it and checking for leaks, do you see any problems with this idea? I welcome as many responses as possible. Gratefully, Dan in Ohio.
