Thank you so much for the help. Can I ask one more question? I assume that the system must be on to purge the air or can it be done cold? The heat returns all have gate valves with hose bibs below them. The feed from the boiler has a tee that feeds the hot water with a zone valve, and the other zone valve goes to the heat and all the returns run together. If I close the gate valves on the return one at a time and open the hose bibs, will the circulator run cold with the service switch off? Sorry for all the questions...
