Are you sure the rads can be used for hot water? If you cut the plugs, will you be able to get the rest of the plug out without screwing up the threads and/or cracking the rad. I would look at getting new steel pannel rads or buy new "old looking" CI rads from Burnham. Maybe trade your old rads in at used plumbing supply dealer for old rads that have been converted and pressure tested already.
