: In my search for a new residential hot water boiler, I have been considering purchasing a Burnham V8 boiler. I know that the Burnham V7 series have had leaks due to casting problems. The V8 design is suppose to fix the problem. One Contractor says they have already replaced a few V8. I am not sure if this is true or if they are promoting other boilers for other reasons. Has any residential customer's out there had problems (leaking or other) with Burnham V8 series boilers?

The V8 Series Boilers are horrible. Their castings are made of an inferior alloy that rots out above the waterline. They fixed the block casting problems, but created a wealth of new problems. Local distributors refuse to carry Burnham's V8 Series boilers because they had so many leakers come back to haunt them.

Their customer service is terrible. I will not go near another Burnham product again, and recommend all my commercial accounts to stay away from them.

I highly recommend staying away from Burnham's residential steam boilers, especially the V8 Series. They will cause you nothing but frustration when you have to replace it next year.

I recommend Weil-McLain's Gold series over the Burnhams any day.
