The best thing you could do is install a high quality (Garber spin on or such)filter just before the burner. Your line is probably full of dirt too. You can possibly change to pulling oil up out of the top of the tank, allowing you to pull the oil line up a couple of inches, above the sludge. If the tank is low and you know when the truck is coming, you could get your house extra warm and turn the stat way down to give the stirred up dirt time to settle.
