You've probably figured this out already, but...
I had a similar problem. Your pressuretrol actually has two settings. The main reading on the front is the cut-in pressure, NOT the cut-out pressure. It should be set low. Say, 1/2 PSI (half a pound). The cut out is set by the differential, inside the pressuretrol case. It should be set to 1. That means your cut-out will be 1/2 PSI plus 1, or 1.5 PSI. On my system, the boiler tech hadn't bothered to set the differential... he seemed to think the main reading was the cut-out. That meant the system cut-in, but would not cut-out until the thermostat reached the desired temperature!
: I have a burnham v75 which I am adding water to constantly. I know it sounds like a leak but I don't see one anywhere. I also noticed that the gauge on the front of the boiler reads 7lbs when its in full swing, someone told me thats way to high. The limit device is a honeywell pa404 and has one adjusting screw on it and it's set at 2lbs. Is it not working? Is the gauge not working? Where can I find a good steam tech in new jersey? Most plumbers don't even call back when I mention steam.
