: The clip is there to make a reminder of the temperature you want the burner to shut off. There is a fixed 15F differential, and that is not adjustable. If you want the burner to go on at a certain temperature, it is not the 8148A that is going to do that; it is questionable why you want that to happen. The 8148A is for a cold start bliler. If you want it to happen then you need to add a low limit switch into the control mix like 6006 - or to swap in an 8124 control.
