This boiler was installed in 1996. This heating season, especially since early Nov., the boiler has been inconsistently getting stuck in the purge cycle. There seemed to be a pattern of it happening between 12a.m. and 7a.m. After checking all possible problematic components, replacement of hot surface ignitor and of electronic control board and of boiler sensor, and with a log I kept of weather conditions, it appeared that the problem may have been electrical. All wiring in the home was checked by an electrician--no problems evident. Electric company checked all outside connections, including meter--no evident problems. My plumber is thinking there may be a voltage reduction to my area overnight, which the electric company denies. The problem disappeared for a few days, but then the pattern broke with a shutdown at 10a.m. Is there anything else that should be checked on the boiler? In addition to above repairs, the steel vent pipe was replaced in Sept due to corrosion--is it possible this may be related to the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
