I have a home of 2000 sqft, 800 up 2nd with cast base, 1200 down 1st with radiators in Chicago. System is water and I am planning on repiping the 1st fl as the pipes hang low in the basement (old Gravity) and also installing ducts for AC. The upstairs uses 1" mains and works very well 7x 8' plus baseboards they get hott. The first floor has 2-3" mains designed I assume for gravity. Can I go to 1-1 1/2" mains when I repipe? System is zoned 1 and 2 with flo control vavles a sep pumps therm etc. Also I will be replacing the boiler at the same time and am looking at the Weil Mcclaine Ultra but am unsure if this type of boiler is really designed for this type of system. Perhaps flr radiant? Isn't large capacity an issue with Radiators/ volume? . Due to the high temps needed for rad 180 plus that it effects efficieny/ warmer water going back to the boiler.Would a better choice be a direct vent Gv series for the capacity/ volume efficieny. I am leary of the ultra as it seems to be new technology. Thanks for the help
