+ Put a pipe on a tee from the tank outlet, through a ball or globe valve to the inlet of the pump going into the tank. Adjust the valve so most, but not all water comes from the boiler into the tank.

: A ball valve is between the tank outlet and boiler. : Can I just throttle the ball valve (between tank outlet and boiler) to restrict water flow? WIll that stop the banging?

+ No, the banging would then occur at the restricted valve.
