: + That tells you that the system was not purged of air correctly BEFORE you started the boiler. Systems that are purged of air FIRST, won't vent much air at all. You probably still have the pressure reducing valve set to too low a pressure.

: As you removed the air eliminator that was removing the air, you probably still have an air lock in the system to help the boiler knock. Boilers that are in air-bound systems that won't let water move fast enough can knock.
