I am trying to make it through the winter using a old Ideal boiler. It was fine in the fall and early winter, outside temps didn't really get that low. I know a 1 pipe steam system should run on about 1-2 lbs of pressure, but my boiler keeps shutting off before the desired temp is reached at the thermostat on 1st floor. I am using a Timken silent automatic pressure controller. In the fall a cut in pressure of 1.5-2.0 and a differential of 1.0 was fine. Now I can't even get the boiler to stay on and come up to the right temp in the house with a cut in of 6.0 and a differential of 4.0. Any ideas on what this cause could be?
Are these pressure settings way off?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
