My 18-year-old Valliant "Gas Fired Cast Iron Hot Water Boiler" ( has no other ID)which heats house and water has developed steam bubble hammering. Repeated flushes with a silicone fluid accoplish only temporary improvement. Pump seems normal. Valliant left the US so advice is not available here, and boiler experience in Montana limited. What other boiler flushes are safe? Permanent additives? Could new antifreeze (Cyro-tek-100 ethelene glycol with anticorrosives) or water softener ( K-Life potassium chloride) play a role in scale accumulation? What else slows water speed? Help gratefully received. many thanks. KAL
