Anything I should do on the maintenance side which might also help out? I know next to nothing about residential boilers and would like to know if draining the line, cleaning out something, purging lines, or anything else might affect operation..

: Spend the money insulatiing the house. You won't get much more out of a new boiler of insulating the pipes. A house with a boiler of the size you have with modern insulation could be easily heated if it was 5000 square feet. You can cut your heating bill in half with a few thousand dollars of good wall and ceiling insulation.
