= That is a sign of flame maladjustment. The only way to securely get the flame adjusted to prevent the problem is to have a repairman with a combustion test kit go through the combustion adjustment procedure using test instruments. Just moving parts around without the instruments to measure the results is just a guess that eventually, usually soon, gets you the same puffs.
