Temperature fluctuation

I had an old Weil Mclain 140,000 input boiler that I replaced with a Peerless MI-04 105,000 input boiler.
(The old one was too big for the house) I have a single loop system with cast iron radiators. All of the valves are wide open on them.
I set the thermostat at 70 degrees.(Outside temp in high 30's right now) When the temp gets down to 70 the boiler kicks in and then out at 72 degrees.(water temp at boiler reaches around 155 deg.) The room temperature then rises another 2 degrees = 74 degrees. I don't remember having this problem before. I guess I could try partially closing the valves on some of the radiators or does this sound like some other kind of problem ???
