I can drop it to the floor but this does not address the water seal at the end of steam main. Both the steam main and condensate return meet. This junction looks like a "U". As I understand it, this "U" should always be filled with water to prevent steam going back through the house in the condensate pipes. Since the boiler water line is now above this "U", can I drop the "U" lower than the boiler water line or should I physically raise the boiler.

I am new to this and have been reading up on the subject. Thanks for all your help

: Yes, the condensate return should drop to the floor before it goes back up to the Hartford Loop nipple. That creates the seal to keep steam out of the return.
