I worked 20 years installing @ maintaining gas forced air systems.
I moved to a different state (Missouri) to take a desk job and the house I bought has boiler.
I know zero about boiler maintenance but need to learn.
The home is about 1600sq ft built in 1970,buried copper pipes in a slab with manual zone valves.
All valves are located next to the boiler.
The boiler was replaced in 1980 with a Weil-Mclain model PCG4 105,000BTU.
It uses a Amtro Fill-Trol. I do not know the model number but is about 9 inches long and 8
inches in diam.
The waterm heater was installed so close to the side of the boiler that the zone valves, fill-tron
and gauges and inaccessable.
I plan on replacing and moving the water within the next 2 weeks and at that time I would like
to service the boiler.
The boiler has a combination temp and pressure .
Temp reads 150 degrees pressure reads 0.
I can not take pressure at the back of the Fill-Tron as it can not be reached.
The burner cycles at 3 to 4 min interverals.
The room in the far end of the house (75 ft) away gets toasty warm in about 2 hours, but yet the
room 35 feet away takes 5 to 6 hours to become slightly warm..
I can see the zone valves and they all appear to be in the fully open position.
I also noticed the air purger has water bubbles coming from the stem which I caped with a metal
cap.
Any thoughts on the cycling ,hot and cold rooms ,air purger and any other things I might check to
solve the problems would be greatly appreciated
