We have a burnham oil burner - "tankless". The system is about 17 yrs old. We've lived here 7. We have never seemed to have enough hot water for more than a 5 minute shower, and all the ladies of the house complain that isn't enough. Showers start out hot enough, but every 30 seconds or so we have to dial in just a bit more "hot" on the faucet until there isn't any more. We have the annual maintenance done but that doesn't help. We've mentioned this problem to the technician as well. My family is after me to either get additional storage or a new unit. Is there some other maintenance that should be done before I upgrade? Or is additional storage/new unit the answer? Hot water goes faster in the winter, and we are just about there!
