To modulate or not-modulate, that is the question.

Hi

I need to heat a new 800 sqft addition and think I am doing hydronic radiant (I will also use the system to supply dhw for the whole house). I have oil forced air in the old part of the house. I also have propane for dhw, cooking, dryer. The question is, should I go with a modulating propane boiler (Baxi Luna) or a good oil fired unit. I know about the differences in BTUs (oil higher per gallon) and efficiencies but the savings due to modulation with the propane are less clear. I was also told by someone that I will not benefit from a gas condensing boiler with my underfloor radiant because of the high return temps but that modulation will save tons.

Thanks
Greg
