I just moved into a 1939 cape with (gas) steam heat. It has the original burner/boiler and pipes. It seems to be working fine, but I'll probably have to replace it in the not too distant future. The house is 1300 sq. ft. with two floors (the attic was finished about 10 years ago). There is steam heat on the first floor and electric baseboard heat on the second. Should I replace the burner/boiler and keep the steam heat or consider changing to hot water. What are the advantages/disadvantages? Thanks.
