: Fiberglass insulation made for pipes. If your mains are 2" you'll need 2" pipe insulation. If your returns are 1-1/4" you'll need 1-1/4" pipe insulation and so on. Home depot has the stuff but at twice the going rate. Try to find an insulation distributor in your area to save a few bucks by buying direct at the source. It may be a couple to a few hundred bucks depending where you get it and how much you'll need. Shop around.

I too, am interested in applying insulation to steam piping and have some questions. First, I thought you do NOT apply insulation to returns. Next, I tried looking for an "insulation distributor" and there seem to be none close to me (Long Island), so I called a few plumbing supply places, and they're all the same price as Home Depot. Any suggestions??
