*** Now that there are less expensive flat plate exchangers (available from Weil McLain and others), this is the best way. Choice numnber 3 was used before as a cheap heat exchanger, but is now unnecessary.
: (3) Use a indirect coil (domestic coil I think it's called) which passes through the boiler and runs through the hot water zone.
