: : I have a 24 year old back boiler that is housed in the chimney with front fire. About 3 months ago the pilot light went out for the first time since we have been in the house, then since then it went out more and more. Until now it goes out every within 10 minutes. This only happens when it is on pilot, when heating the central heating etc it runs fine. Any ideas? Is it likely to be dirt in the pilot pipe?
: The thermocouple is probably defective, I'd change it first.

I would suggest replacing the thing, it's 24 years old, your car doesn't even last that long, do yourself a favour, buy a new one.
