: hi
: im having trouble with a vaillant combi which does not come on sometimes when required- any ideas most welcome -also does anyone know where i can get instructions for vaillant boiler-many thanks

You did not say what type you have.... You probably don't get hot water so here's what...

If it's a VCW T3W, older then 15 years, I suggest replacing it.
If it's a VCW TC, this fault can be caused by many reasons, leaking of the *waterhouse* top-gasket, may have caused it to seize up, replacing that will help you out.
If it's a VUW, it's an easy fix..... remove all the panneling, and inspect the 3-way valve right underneath the pump. If you turn the water on you'll see a white lever try to press down on a small switch... turn water off, take small screwdriver, remove the clip holding the switch, unplug the switch, and somewhere in the middle bent it upwards just a little bit. Put it back in place, and put the clip back on, plug in and turn the water back on, the VUW will start up again and everything is fine !!!!

If the lever does nothing, the rubber inside has ruptered or the lever might have broken of. Both can be replaced, look for the right Vaillant revision set.
