I have a 12 year old Burnham steam heater. It has been increasing using water last couple of years even when making hot water. No external leaks were found. Yesterday during inspection with my contractor found a leak above the water line in one of the cast iron section. Looks like a casting defect to me however warranty is only good for 10 years in steam service. My questions are is this a typical failure on cast iron boilers? The piece missing is near the top, so is there any high termerature products that I can temperaraly patch the unit while I decide how to replace with in kind unit or some other manufacture's boiler.

Thanks
