I live in the suburbs of NYC and need to replace an ancient (ca. 1911) and inefficient oil-burning boiler producing steam with a sidearm unit for hot-water baseboard heat in 2 rooms. My house is about 4000 sq. ft. and probably need a 250,000 Btu or so unit (if this makes sense). I have gotten quotes of around $7000 for Burnham and Weil-McLain units. Are Buderus or Viessman boilers also work looking at? Is is worth junking the whole steam radiator sysytem (they look nice but the heat is laughably uneven, noisy and and ineffcient) and replacing it with something else and, if so, what?

Many thanks for any help.
