That sounds like a lot of money. It's hard to say without seeing the access etc. I'd shop around, especially if that salesperson was the one that condemned your old one. There are a few tiny low mass boilers out there that should not be able to take a coil as there is little heat until the burner is up and running. There are models as HK inferred that are rated as your old one. Also if the place was insulated etc you can go down a few sizes maybe. I would go with the indirect heater but look hard at that price.
