It is not fair to assume that electronic ignitions will last for 5 years. Washing soaps send chemicals into the eair to foul sensors, and replacements of parts is more frequent than trouble-free. Your new steam boiler will not pay for itself in 4 years, there is no way it will cut your fuel bill in half. The insulation will help in that regard and is your least expensive savings plan. Both manufacturers come well recommended as are others.
