Sounds like you are trying to unscrew large pipe plugs from where piping can come in and out of radiators. For someone needing to separate sections to reduce the size for load, or to ease disposal: remove 1/4" threaded draw rods and then using several wooden wedges between the sections, drive them apart. Nipples will have to be gently tapped from the scrap sections to limit distortion. Goop the nipples with Permatex or such and then draw back together with shortened draw rods.
