What I have is an old American Standard Residential boiler. Series # is 7B-J12. When you remove cover to the part that operates the valve, there is a metal plate with like a plastic material. It is seperating itself further from the metal plate. I've been told that is where my problem lies and good luck finding a replacement part. This unit apparently controls or regulates the burners coming on. If I ever so gently pull the stem up within this unit the burners come on. I can lodge a piece of metal in there and keep the burners on and provide heat and then remove once the temp and pressure comes up. The cover for this part has a plate that says: No.V-575 FW Gas Valve, Serie 605. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
