Need advice on Laars Endurance gas boiler(formerly Trianco Heatmaker)

I am considering installing a Laars Endurance gas boiler(EDP 110) in my home. It is quite a bit more expensive than a design like a Weil-Mclain. It was explained to me to be much more efficient because it can modulate it's BTU from 61-108 as needed and it only holds 3 quarts of water.

Is this a quality and reliable unit? Worth extra cost?
Also I was told it can be chimney vented, but the Co. web site says it can't.??

Can a Pro or a homeowner who has one give some advice.
