The SafeGard line usually used a timed refill through an orifice. The timer requires 90 seconds of activation after which the sensor tells the control to stop filling because the sensor is in water. It might require the 90 seconds before the sensor can act. If the power is off and has cooled the timer it may not begin the cycle to shutoff. The water feed time can also be adjusted. Discuss this with the Hydrolevel company.

A sure way to prevent overfill is by wiring a water fill solenoid to shut off when a high water cutoff control disconnects it. This requires another control set to the water column.
